A retail company is currently looking for a strong, vibrant, and self-disciplined Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily store operations. The successful candidate will support the store manager in ensuring store targets, operational objectives, and customer service standards are achieved and exceeded.
Job Responsibilities
Stock Management
- Ensure stock is accurately received and unpacked onto the sales floor.
- Monitor and manage stock levels through stock counts, stock takes, and stock loss prevention plans.
- Maintain proper housekeeping standards in the stockroom.
- Authorize stock write-offs, breakages, recalls, and returns.
Sales Growth and Profitability
- Analyze store sales and profitability reports to improve sales performance.
- Work with management to implement operational action plans.
- Monitor product performance and provide feedback to management.
- Identify new opportunities to increase sales and brand awareness through marketing, local events, and partnerships.
Risk Management
- Conduct compliance checks including admin checks, store audits, visual audits, and POS reports.
- Ensure the store complies with company policies, health and safety regulations, and operational standards.
Customer Experience Management
- Ensure customer experience standards are implemented and maintained.
- Manage promotions, markdowns, pricing updates, and store presentation.
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and customer service in the store.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead and motivate store employees to achieve store KPIs.
- Identify training and development needs for staff.
- Support talent development and succession planning.
- Recruit and manage staff performance according to company policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Sales and service management knowledge
- Computer literacy
- Good communication skills
- Understanding of retail trade
- Strong understanding of brands, customers, and products

- Stack products on pallets and store them correctly.
- Comply with food safety and workplace safety regulations.
- Maintain general cleanliness in the work area.
