Job Description

The Petrol Attendant is a full-time role with changing roster demands to involve attending on weekends, afternoons and public holidays. The job is active and hands-on in character with extended periods of standing, exposure to the elements and face-to-face customer contact.

Fuel attenders are accountable for fuelling cars, carrying out vehicle inspections, handling customer payments, keeping the forecourt area clean, and upholding health and safety procedures at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Among other duties to be performed by you as a Petrol Attendant will be the following key responsibilities:
  • Refilling of
    Properly grade and fill fuel tanks with products (petrol, diesel, etc.) ordered.
  • Check system at filler for leaks or discrepancies and report issues.
  • Confirm fuel type and amount with the customer before and during the transaction.

Customer Support & Assistance

  • Always welcome customers with a smile and a smiling face.
  • Treat the customers politely and provide additional services like:
  • Oil and water level checks.
  • Check tyre pressure.
  • Windscreens and side mirrors cleanup.
  • Give information on types of fuels offered, offers, or store offers.

Transfers Management

  • Take cash, credit/debit card, or fleet card payments in safety.
  • Issue change and receipt accurately.
  • All station procedures on transaction recording and customer queries.

Forecourt Maintenance

  • Ensure the forecourt area is clean, free from spillage and is well-organized.
  • Get rid of debris, clean surfaces and service equipment (hoses, nozzles, bins).
  • Restock consumables such as squeegees, window wash, and paper towels.

Safety and Compliance

  • Obey all health and safety and fire legislation carefully.
  • Wear relevantPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Report all safety hazards, fuel leaks, equipment malfunctions or suspicions of malperformance.
  • Participate in safety drill and briefing as needed.

Support and Teamwork

  • Work as a member of the Engen team and assist other attendants and supervisors.
  • Speak respectfully and effectively to management and co-workers.
  • Take part in frequent training and observe standard operating procedures.
