About the Programme
Driver Operators play a key role in ensuring that daily operations run efficiently. The position involves transporting teams, equipment, and materials to different work sites, while also assisting with basic operational and administrative duties.
This is more than just a driving job. It requires individuals who are responsible, organized, and capable of supporting teams in a practical working environment. The role contributes directly to the maintenance and functionality of public infrastructure and facilities.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants will be considered if they meet the following criteria:
- A Junior Certificate or ABET qualification
- A valid Code 08 or Code 10 driver’s license
Knowledge and Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
- The Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) Act
- The National Road Traffic Act and its regulations
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Planning and time management skills
- Safe and responsible driving practices
Key Responsibilities
Although duties may vary depending on the section, the role generally includes:
- Transporting staff, tools, and materials to and from work sites
- Assisting teams with loading and offloading equipment
- Ensuring vehicles are kept clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained
- Supporting workshop or cleaning teams with daily operational tasks
- Completing basic administrative or logbook duties related to trips and vehicle usage
