About the Role
This position falls within the hospital’s support services division and plays an important role in maintaining hygiene and operational efficiency across wards and departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling hospital linen, ensuring that all units have access to clean and adequate supplies at all times.
Although this is not a clinical role, it is a critical function within the healthcare system. Clean linen is essential for infection prevention, patient comfort, and the smooth running of hospital services. This role is well-suited to individuals who are comfortable performing routine tasks and physical work in a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
The duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
- Sorting, counting, and handling soiled linen collected from various hospital wards and units
- Distributing clean linen to different departments in a timely and organized manner
- Assisting with stock-taking processes and maintaining accurate records of linen supplies
- Monitoring stock levels within laundry rooms and ensuring timely replenishment
- Changing curtains in wards and units as part of infection control and hygiene standards
- Maintaining cleanliness and order within the laundry area
- Operating and assisting with laundry machinery and related equipment
- Carrying out any additional duties as assigned by a supervisor to support daily operations
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess an ABET Level 2 qualification or an equivalent qualification
- Demonstrate basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Be able to communicate effectively and work well within a team environment
Competencies and Skills
The ideal candidate should:
- Be willing and physically able to perform manual labour
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
- Be flexible and available to work shifts, including rotation of duties
- Be able to follow instructions and adhere to established procedures
