Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Security Guard to join its team in Polokwane, Limpopo. This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced security professional who can help protect customers, employees, stock, property and other company assets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment while following Dis-Chem’s security procedures and the requirements of the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate.
• Valid Grade C PSIRA accreditation.
• At least 3 years’ general experience in the retail security environment, such as shopping centres or warehouses.
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar security position would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of PSIRA requirements.
• Fire emergency and relevant Health & Safety training/exposure.
• Good English communication skills.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear criminal and credit record.
• PSIRA registration.

A driver’s licence and reliable transport may be required where the employee is deployed as a driver.

Key Responsibilities

The Security Guard will help maintain security at the Dis-Chem premises by:

• Conducting regular patrols of the premises.
• Monitoring and controlling access to the site.
• Searching staff, suppliers and merchandisers where required.
• Conducting vehicle searches and personnel frisking according to company procedures.
• Monitoring CCTV, alarms and emergency equipment.
• Identifying and reporting suspicious activities.
• Investigating and reporting unlawful entry, damage, theft or other incidents.
• Maintaining occurrence books and security registers.
• Protecting company property, stock and assets.
• Assisting during emergencies and evacuation procedures.
• Contacting police and emergency services when necessary.
• Following opening and closing security procedures.
• Ensuring doors, windows and other access points are properly secured.
• Providing professional and courteous customer service.
• Recording unusual incidents and submitting detailed reports to management.
• Remaining alert and visible while on duty.
• Following all relevant security legislation and Dis-Chem procedures.
